Week 9 DraftKings and FanDuel NFL Millionaire Winners

James Gagnon continues with our weekly winners recap at FanDuel and DraftKings

Week 9 Recap And Notable Notes

I want to introduce DraftPot (read review)- It’s fantasy football without a salary cap. Plus there is currently great overlay! (NFL 2015). Get in now while the getting is good. The promo code FREAK locks in a huge bonus and a free seat into a $3 contest.

Antonio Brown, DeAngelo Williams and Delanie Walker Bring it Home

Antonio Brown had a game for the ages with a line of 17 – 284 – 0. With that zero in the touchdown spot only because it was his 17th catch of a very long game, on a very long run after the catch, and he was obviously gassed. That’s a touchdown he normally scores.

DeAngelo Williams also had a huge game with 170 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving to go along with 2 catches, a TD, and a 2-point conversion. DeAngelo picked up right where he left off while replacing LeVeon Bell and will be a value and a stud moving forward.

The loss of Ben Roethlisberger will impact both of these players, but it might not be as negative as you might think. While Antonio Brown’s numbers without Big Ben had Brown only scoring 11.03 points per week, as opposed to him putting up 32.38 with Big Ben, those numbers are a little misleading since most of that time ‘without’ was with Michael Vick instead of Landry Jones. Landry Jones replaced Big Ben at the end of a hard-fought game, with the score tied, and pulled off a game-winning drive. Landry’s a downgrade to Ben, no doubt, but that’s only because of who Big Ben is and is not a knock on Mr. Jones. I would downgrade each player just a tick during tough mathcups, but keep them at full value during good-to-great matchups.

The last player owned almost across the board on the winning teams is Mr. Tip Drill himself, Delanie Walker. If you missed the game, he turned 3 tipped balls into a TD and about 10050 yards. There’s something to be said for a guy who never stops and continues after the ball, and then can turn a negative into positive plays of such importance.

Other Notables & Week 10 Preview

Derek Carr is still valued as a $5,500 quarterback in DraftKings regardless of matchup, and all he’s done is scored over 23 points in 5 of 8 games and over 30, 3 of 8 times. He currently sits at 2,014 yards passing on the year, with 19 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. With Amari Cooper still growing as a rookie and Michael Crabtree seeming to have finally put it all together, Carr’s a great value play.

Speaking of Michael Crabtree… he’s been targeted 80 times this year, which is 8 more times than Amari Cooper, and Crabtree has 5 TD’s to Amari’s 4. Crabtree costs nearly $2K less than the rookie.

Lamar Miller had his 3rd great game in the last 4 weeks, scoring 6 total TD’s over the 4 games. He’s also rushed for 347 yards and caught 17 balls for 182 yards. His current salary is $5,000 on DK, which is certain to rise.

Sammy Watkins is really fun to watch, when he’s healthy enough to allow us to watch him.

Alshon Jeffery is averaging almost 10 receptions, for 138 yards per game and 30 fantasy points per week over his last three weeks, to go along with 2 touchdowns.

Mike Evans had 6 drops…6!!! If he caught 5 of those balls, we’d be talking about him in the same ilk of Antonio Brown this week. Doug Martin layed an egg. Jameis looked good again, and still isn’t turning the ball over. Victor Jackson and Austin Sefarian-Jenkins should be healthy one day. I’m all in on the Buc’s train…or ship, whatever.

Anyone playing against the Saints defense. They’re giving up over 27 points per game to QB’s alone this year. Take out the 19.58 they “held” Jameis Winston to on his 2nd NFL game and the 14.34 they gave up to Brandon Weeden and a Dez Bryant-less Cowboys, and they’ve actually giving up over 30 points to opposing quarterbacks.

FanDuel and DraftKings Millionaire Winners – How They Won

FanDuel

rtoraine takes down the 1st place prize!

As you can see, rtoraine had the triumvirate of DeAngelo Williams, Antonio Brown, and Delanie Walker. With great production out of those 3 players, plus 34.58 points out of Cam Newton. To go along with 30 total points out of the Kicker and Defense positions, it provided rtoarine some lenience with the rest of the roster. AP, Cobb, and Jordan Matthews were anything but slouches, but they weren’t cheap players and didn’t provide a ton of value. They didn’t hurt either though, which is why rtoraine is a half a million dollars richer.

DraftKings

skeener wins the the skin of his teeth with a .10 victory.

skeener917 took down the million by 0.10 points, over Herdcrazy214, who had Jeremy Langford playing Monday night. Ah, the good ol’ “Monday night sweat.”

skeener917 had 4 of the 9 players from the “perfect lineup” in DeAngelo, Brown, Delanie, and Crabtree. They got the Eagles, the 3rd-highest scoring D at $2,700. The only mis-step we might consider is the ho-hum game by Edelman, which was more than made up for by the 4 rushing TD’s by Chris Ivory and Lamar Miller, and the stellar performance by Marcus Mariota coming off of injury.

This million dollars was won by the skin of skeener917’s teeth though, not only because an additional two yards by Langford would’ve had me typing someone else’s name over and over. But The Roethlisberger also brought us into some serious “what-if” scenario’s, as well as Aaron Rodger’s last second fail at a 4th and goal conversion.
