DraftKings Launch $3 Million Fantasy Baseball World Championship
The details for the Fantasy Baseball World Championship are out and once again Draftkings will make one individual a million dollars richer. The contest takes place in the middle of August and will have a limited field of just 60 players vying for that top spot. All 60 players will be flown to Vegas and enjoy a 4 night stay, the final evening seeing the World Champion crowned.
Qualification
Qualifiers for the event are taking place from now all the way up until August 5th, when the final field will be set. These qualifiers will have three different buy-in levels, starting at just $33 and moving up to $300 and $1000. The larger buy-in the qualifier has, the fewer opponents you’ll have to beat to grab a seat in the main event.
These qualifiers are held regularly throughout the season, so for information on the latest qualifier either head to the DraftKings.
Should you wish to try and qualify for a smaller sum, you can however enter one of these contests via a satellite. These events can be entered for sums of $0.25, $3, $12 and $33 (the $33 satellite is for one of the larger qualifying events as opposed to the $33 qualifier). Finishing high enough in one of the satellites will give you a seat in one of the qualifiers – so there is potential for the overall million dollar first prize going to a player who did enter for just a quarter.
The Main Event
Having qualified your username will appear on the ‘meet your qualifiers’ section of the dedicated Fantasy Baseball World Championship page and you’ll be ready for your trip to Vegas. As a qualifier you’ll firstly be given $1,000 to cover the round trip for two to Las Vegas and back. You’ll stay at the Wynn Las Vegas for four nights – arriving on Wednesday August 12th and departing on Sunday August 16th. During the four day stay you’ll enjoy an exclusive pool party as well as a number of exciting excursions including ATV desert racing.
The highlight of the trip however comes on the Saturday evening when the live event viewing experience will take place. All of the games included in the final fantasy contest will start between 4.05pm and 4.15pm local time, making for a high intensity three hours or so, the end of which will see the World Champion crowned and be awarded the belt that comes along with it.
The Prize Fund
The total prize fund for the event comes in at a staggering $3 million. The $1 million for the winner leaves a lot of extra cash to go around, which means that even the player who finishes in last place will still pick up a very nice $10,000. Here is a rundown of the top ten prizes:
1st $1,000,000
2nd $400,000
3rd $200,000
4th $150,000

Contest Rules and Regulations
The normal DraftKings fantasy baseball rules will apply during the contest. Team line ups will need to be set before the first game starts at 4.05pm, with nine games taking place that day starting between between 4.05pm and 4.15pm. DraftKings reserve the right to remove any game before the contest is posted.
In the qualifiers, should two or more players tie for the top spot there will be a playoff between these players to determine who will be heading to Vegas (unless the qualifier is less than 10 days before the main event, when the player with the single highest scorer will be deemed the qualifier).
Players are allowed to qualify more than once to the main event, but this will be capped at a maximum of four times.
